Colliery Rescue Drill Unit

The Rescue Drill Unit comprises a complete set of equipment, capable of drilling probe holes and rescue holes into a mine in order to extricate persons from underground following a collapse or an emergency. The unit and its operating crew are housed at the Collieries Training College which is ideally situated in the hub of the coal mining industry. The unit which has recently been upgraded, has been available for the past 30 years and has already been used successfully to rescue some 27 persons trapped underground at the Emiswati Mine.
